Wiring is straightforward: two wires serve as the primary tool touch signal (Normally Closed contact loop to Probe/GND inputs), and the remaining two wires form the over-travel protection switch loop (connected in series with your E-stop circuit or limit input). A normally closed circuit provides fail-safe operation. If a wire breaks or a connection comes loose, the machine controller immediately detects an open circuit and halts movement, preventing the spindle from plunging into the bed. Standard NO sensors cannot detect wire breaks until a crash occurs.

If the spindle fails to stop during initial touch due to software delay, the probe compresses further into its 5mm buffer stroke. Tracing past 1.5mm trips the dedicated over-travel microswitch, instantly firing your controller's emergency stop before the cutter can crush against the base.
